Summary: a bit pricey for a starter table saw
This table saw arrives well packaged in styrofoam. Note that it has MANY (dozens) of pieces that you have to assemble. My kit was missing four washers - I chose to buy them at the hardware store rather than wait a few days to have Black & Decker replace them. Assembling the metal legs was easy, and they don't wobble, but you can bend them with your hands, so I question how long they'll last being rolled around. The directions are complete and have lots of black and white pictures, but the pieces don't all have obvious markings on them. The table surface is solid cast metal - nice! Assembling the splitter/guide/blade shield is not hard, unfortunately it feels very cheap - particularly compared to the blade shield on my Craftsman compound miter saw. The miter and bevel features of this saw work fine, but for small boards, I prefer my compound miter saw - it's a lot easier. The orange body of this saw is industrial grade plastic - somewhat disappointed by this when I opened the box, but it seems to be fine for now and does not seem to cause the saw to wobble. Many hex nuts and bolts are used in assembly - the kit comes with a flat metal steel wrench, which you will want to throw out immediately, because it's too big for any of the nuts (it cannot be used with them!). The fence is simple to use and locks in place. There are no table extensions on this saw, although there are holes in the sides of the table surface for attaching them (does Black & Decker make them?). Rolling around this saw is awkward - the casters are small and it's not meant to be rolled around much (it's not a "site" saw). The saw does work fine - that said, for $168, I expected more. Home Depot has a 15 amp Ryobi table saw for under $100 that has everything this saw does - minus the wheels. Most 13 amp saws with similar features are also $90 - $100. My feeling is that although this saw is decent, it's very overpriced - the similar Delta saw is also only $100 (again, no wheels).

Looking at entry level "site" table saws (e.g. Craftsman at Sears, for example), for about $225 you'll get real wheels, fold up legs, table extenders, better controls, better blade shield, etc. - a much better saw.

Summary: ok saw
Bought this exact saw, minus the wheels, at Wal-Mart, on clearance for $69. Works ok, but I removed the plastic guard because it tends to jam the wood.

Summary: "Good for what it is"
I recently purchased this table saw and noticed the same issues the other people wrote about. First of all, it's a good dependable saw with plenty of power and features. The main drawback is that the unit's a bit underweight and it may have one or two somewhat flimsy parts. From my experience this would mostly be an issue with large pieces of plywood. Not so much with smaller or lighter pieces of wood. As it is, it would be somewhat unstable with the larger plywoods. If there are table extensions you can purchase, that would defintly remedy the problem. The reason for the 3 stars is that I'm a little strict as far as my ratings are concered. This is not as good as a $200 or $300 unit, but not too far off either. At less than $100 on sale, you can't go wrong with this and it's worth the money.
