As a retired builder/contractor I've been looking for a portable table saw and altho I've only used it for a few hours it has been up to the task. Other reviewers have complained about the fence not being square... Hey, for the price it's not a problem to check the squareness of the fence with your tape. Big deal. It works well, I like the extendable table and It's packable, my old 12" Craftsman weighed a ton.

I purchased this saw to use for projects I have ongoing around the house. After doing research on several different models and manufacturers I chose this saw mainly because of the belt drive, manufacturer, and positive feedback from other people.

Overall the saw works great. The belt drive motor appears to have plenty of power and runs very smooth. I upgraded the blade to a good quaity Freud ripping blade which helped improve performance even further. In addition to ripping I've also used a dado stack on this saw with much success.

The fence isn't the greatest, but what I expected for a saw in this price range. However if you measure the fence from the blade when you are settings its position you can get it perfectly parallel and obtain accurate results.

I purchased this saw a little bit ago after seeing it on sale here for around $215 and have had good luck with it. As usual, shipping was quick and everything arrived as it should.

PROS: Performance is way above what you would expect for a saw of this price.

CONS: The fence will lock down in slight misalignment; there is no way to lock the hight of the blade (such as for cutting accurate dados); the extensions are not quite aligned.

SET UP and ASSEMBLY: Set up was fairly easy. The 45 and 90 degree tilt stops, splitter alignment, and fence scale were all a bit off, but easy to adjust. The instructions were easy to understand.

OPERATION: The saw is smooth and relatively quiet--a step above other similarly priced table saws. I'm still using the original blade, but will upgrade it eventually.

I've built a custom stand and out-feed table that has really increased this saw's utility. I also have created a series of jigs and, with careful setup before each cut, have dramatically increased the saw's accuracy and overcome much of the fence deficiency. I'm still working to devise a way around not being able to lock the blade hight, but am confident there is a simple way around this problem.

CONCLUSION: If you are looking for an inexpensive table saw and are willing to put in a little extra work into setting up each cut and building jigs, this is your saw.

Motor burned up and seized after 2 years of very cared for moderate use. Mainly building custom speaker boxes out of MDF...and a very good blade, not the one that comes with it. Nice while it lasted.

This definitely better than the previous brand that I was using would buy Jet again,but I don't think I'll have to.
